With reference to the correspondence noted in the
margin I have the honour to inform you that I have been in correspondenes with the Board of Trade, Mosers. Dickinson & Co. and the Chima and Japan Telephone and Electric Company on
the subject of the draft Tramway Ordinance.

I have të request that the amended draft Ordinames
enclosed in Sir H. Blake's despatch No.367 of 16th September last
may be further amended so as to secure for all existing or future
telegraph and telephone lines belonging to Government Departments
the same protection which is conferred by section 21 of the lines
of the Cable Companies, and that a clause may be inserted con-
taining provisions similar to those of section 81 of the
Electric Lighting (Clauses) ist of 1899, 62 and 63 Victoria,
cap. 19.
In other respects I have no objection to the pro-
posed Tramway Ordinance, or the proposed Ordinance to amend the
scope of the Tramways Ordinance 1883 (No.8 of 1883) and the
Tramways Ordinance Amendment Ordinance 1885 (Bo.18 of 1885)
a copy of which was enclosed in Sir H. Blake's despatch No.552
of 7th September last .
I enclose for your information and guidanos copies of
the sorrespondense noted in the margin.
